Clemson Spineless Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) - Clemson Spineless Okra is an heirloom that won the AAS prize in 1939. Okra is relatively easy to grow, it thrives in the heat and likes slightly acidic soils. Plants have showy cream coloured flowers, followed by strongly flavoured grooved pods that add brilliant texture to culinary dishes. Popular in stews, soups, and gumbo.

Planting Instructions: Direct sow after the danger of frost has passed. Plant seeds 2 inches apart and ½ inch deep in warm soil. Once established, thin seedlings to 16 inches apart. Seeds can also be started indoors 4–5 weeks before the last spring frost, keep trays warm and handle seedlings carefully to avoid disturbing the roots when transplanting.
