Blue Solaise Leek

Blue Solaise (Allium ampeloprasum) This French heirloom is one tough plant! Overwintered nicely at 45 degrees latitude here in Nova Scotia Canada, even with limited snow cover. A real striking blue-green leek on 16-20 inch stalks. Our papa Earl grew these leeks in North Western Ontario, Canada with excellent success. He noted that the colour would become an even darker bluish-purple as winter set in! Incredibly flavourful!

Planting instructions: Start seeds indoors in late winter, covering lighting to 1/4 inch depth at 1/2 inch apart. Transplant during late spring, spacing seedlings 6-8 inches apart within the row.
