Cardinal Climber (Ipomoea sloteri syn. I. x multifida) First introduced in the1897 by Logan Sloter who manually crossed a red morning glory, I. coccinea, with a cypress vine, I. quamoclit. This is a very attractive annual twining vine with crimson red, trumpet-shaped flowers. If you like Hummingbirds, this one is a must! Delicate dark-green leaves with deep sinuses that are quite unique. This species will climb up and around anything you want it to and bloom well into late fall, climbing 10-15 ft. or more.
