Valentine Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) Also known as the Common Sunflower, these plants have very sturdy stems up to 5 feet tall, producing gorgeous light lemony yellow blooms surrounding dark chocolate coloured centres. Makes a very good source of pollen for bee forage. Displays some branching with a dominant larger centre head. The lone sunflower survivor of hurricane Fiona this fall, these stocky plants remained upright through 100 km wind gusts!

Planting Instructions: Direct seed Sunflower after risk of frost has passed, and when the soil temperature is above 18 degrees Celsius. Sow in a furrow, 1 - 1.5 inches deep and 4 inches apart, thinning to 1 plant per every 8 inches.
