Blanket Flower Gaillardia (Gaillardia aristata) Native to the plains and Western North America, this annual wildflower has a cone centre, much like Echinacea or Black Eyed Susan, but surrounded by red petals dipped in golden rays of sun. Deadheading regularly will avoid the onset of mildew in late summer. Gaillardia will self sow, but is not considered an invasive plant. It is a very drought tolerant species. Also, Blanket Flower is stunning in cut flower arrangements and bouquets. Flowers do exhibit some variability in size and colour. A spectacular specimen to highlight your flower garden.
