Bent Box Sugar Pea (Pisum sativum) - In 2019 we were gifted a box containing 100's of seed packets, some dating back over 50 years. The box was donated to us from Robert Bent who acquired it from an elderly gentlemen near Port George NS. One of the more interesting finds were two packets of ‘Matchless’ Sugar Peas with hand writing on the back of one that was opened, reading "west garden 88". All seeds were lined out with some success in the following spring of 15 germinating seeds! We were quite impressed with the plant vigour and early production of many 3-4” crispy pods. The plants are rather compact reaching a maximum of 2 feet in height and do not need much trellising. For the last 3 years we have built up a very stable population of this amazing sugar snap pea through our selection process and are excited to offer the seeds for the first time in 2024! Maybe they will grow best in your west gardens? LIMITED QUANTITIES for 2024!
