Brandywine Tomato

Solanaceae

Regular price $4.45 $4.45 Sale

Brandywine Tomato – (Solanum lycopersicum) This is a classic heirloom beefsteak dating back as far as the late 1800's. Burpee's 1896 catalogue identifies the potato leafed Bandywine tomato plant as an 'old time American' favourite, so perhaps its' origins date back even much further. We acquired the 'Sudduth/Quisenberry' strain in 2018 from a market grower in Port Williams, Nova Scotia. This is an extremely flavourful tomato with a deep-pink skin and smooth, red flesh. This is a tall growing potato-leaf plant that required staking or caging. A real pleasure to grow and harvest these sweet beefsteaks. Definitely worth the wait for the final ripening stage!
