Waltham 29 Broccoli (Brassica oleracea) - A reliable heirloom developed in 1954. Compact plants that branch up to 18” wide, produce sturdy blue-green 4 - 6 inch heads. Lateral shoots will also develop flower heads and continue throughout the growing season unless temperatures become too hot. This is a great variety for cooler summers of the maritimes or northern latitudes. Plants are cold hardy and will tolerate light frosts. We found this variety to be extremely tender and flavourful when cooked. It has recently become a staple here on our North Mountain Farm!
