Velvet Queen Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) A really magnificent and showy sunflower that boasts both copper and/or sunburst coloured petals surrounding a central black disc. Grows from 4-6 ft tall. Expect some multi-branching and a showy mix of sunburst colours. In some years we see only copper coloured blooms, other years the 'Ring of Fire' heads are prevalent. Velvet Queen is an early flowering type which can be planted at two to three week intervals, therefore extending the bloom period. Flowers are 4-8" in width making them just right for indoor flower arrangements. Velvet Queen will bring a stunning ray of happiness to your summer days!

Planting Instructions: Direct seed Sunflower after risk of frost has passed, and when the soil temperature is above 18 degrees Celsius. Sow in a furrow, 1 - 1.5 inches deep and 4 inches apart, thinning to 1 plant per every 8 inches.
