Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa) - Butterfly Weed is most often a distinctive bright orange, but there is some degree of variation to be expected in flower colour, ranging from deep red-orange to yellow shades. This perennial species of milkweed does not have the milky sap typically found in other varieties. Butterfly weed does not like prolonged wet soils, rather, a full sun and dry location will ensure that it thrives and remains attractive to butterflies and other pollinators. A narrow leaved plant with multiple stems, this long lived perennial will make an attractive addition to your garden. Plants are upright averaging 24-30" in height.Â
