Common Sage (Salvia officinalis) Sage is an incredibly popular perennial herb that is used in sauces, salted dishes, meats and eggs to bring out a complexity of flavours. A savoury herb that is notable among many holiday dishes, Sage is also an attractive plant in the garden. This herb is fantastic in attracting pollinators and is one of the favourites of hummingbirds, who drink from the purple-lavender flowers once they bloom. Easy to tend to, and will grow back fresh leaves after cutting, leaving you with plenty of stock in your spice jars.

Planting Instruction: Start indoors 6-8 weeks before lining out. Sow 1/8" deep, and keep soil moist, being careful to not overwater. Thin or transplant to18″ apart. In spring, trim your established plants back by 20-30% to encourage new growth. Once the flowers have finished bloom in, trim plants back again.  Seeds can be sown outdoors in the late fall to enhance spring germination.
