Cosmos, Sea Shells (Cosmos bipinnatus) How about creating the perfect balance in your flower garden with this wonderful ancient flowering species. Cosmos has a unique history dating well back before the 16th century when Spanish sailors brought large quantities of seed and back from Mexico to Madrid. This seed selection comes from my grandmother Katie's farmyard. Tube like -seashell pedals range form pastel pinks to rose, fuchsia and white, attracting birds, bees and butterflies. Fern like leaves make this species a wonderful texture in dried flower arrangements. Cosmos is a tall growing annual that can reach height of 5 ft. Profuse flowering will occur readily on less than ideal soils, making it a great xeriscape plant as well. An easy plant to cultivate and pleasing to all, a must add to your garden landscape.
