Lovage (Levisticum officinale) Lovage will stand tallest in your herb garden, making it very noticeable, especially when it flowers. It is an umbelliferous plant in the Apiaceae family, which means it is related to the carrot. This herb is a perennial plant that grows 6–8 feet in a single season. Leaves are fabulous in salads adding a celery-like taste, or use in soup or broths. We keep two lovage plants handy near the kitchen door! Some folks prefer to grow Lovage for the edible root! You will be impressed by this magnificent plant, especially when it flowers, which are attractive to a wide range of predatory and beneficial insects.
