Mrs. Burn's Lemon Basil (Ocimum basilicum var. citriodora) Mrs. Burn’s Lemon Basil is a highly aromatic herb that attracts bees from miles around! This sweet and tangy lemon-scented variety is a favourite in herbal gardens and was originally grown at the request of a local chef. Its bright green leaves, approximately 2½ inches long, are perfect for culinary use, and the delicate white blooms are also edible. Plants grow 20–24 inches tall, producing a steady harvest of flavourful leaves throughout the season.
60-65 days to maturity
Planting Instructions: Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds 0.5–1 cm deep in a well-draining seed mix and keep in a warm, bright location. Basil germinates best in consistent warmth and typically emerges in 5–10 days.
Once seedlings have 4–6 true leaves and all risk of frost has passed, harden off and transplant outdoors or into containers. Space plants 20–30 cm apart in a sunny, sheltered location with well-drained soil.
Pinch growing tips regularly to encourage bushier growth and extend leaf production.
