Summer Savory (Satureja hortensis) A traditional herb with a peppery zing, used in teas, herb butters, flavoured vinegar, soups and in poultry dishes. A prolific growing species that performs very well in northern latitudes and our Canadian maritime climate. In hardiness zones 5 and up, summer savoury is considered a perennial species. Our savoury bends have survived our Nova Scotia winters quite well without mulching. Plant height ranges from 12-20 inches.

70-75 days to maturity

Minumum 100 seeds per packet $4.45

Planting Instructions:  Directly sow 1–2 seeds per inch after the last frost date. Sow on surface and lightly cover as light is required for successful germination. Keep soil moist until germination occurs and thin seedlings to 8 inches apart.

Seeds can be started indoors in early spring and kept at 25-30 degrees in day and 20 at night. Sow seeds on top of the growing medium, gently pressing them into soil mix, as light is required for germination. Mist to moisten and keep moist until germination using a dome. Transplant to 3-5 inch pots when seedlings have 4 true leaves. Transplant outside after the last frost date at 8" spacing.
