Jalapeno Pepper -  ‘Zelinski Strain’ ( Capsicum annuumThis is a very tough and blockier version of the early Jalapeño strain with origins to the gardens of the late Earl Zelinski of Thunder Bay Ontario. Earl gifted the seeds to his daughter Kathy over 20 years ago. 2023 was the first time in over 5 years that we have planted this variety and again in 2023. We were very pleased with the plant response each year. We find this strain does better in the wet conditions and acidic soils of the Maritimes. Yields were fabulous in both years. Plants are somewhat larger leafed and the fruits are slightly blocky on the shoulders. In terms of heat, they are similar to Early Jalapeño. Peppers from this strain do keep longer in storage by 7-10 days. A rare and very hardy family heirloom, we are excited to offer these Jalapeño Pepper seeds for the first time in 2024!
