Bulgarian Hot Chili Pepper (Capiscum annuum) This heirloom, aka as a Shipka, is thought to have made its way to North America from Russia in the early 80's. Bright orange, 3-4 inch long peppers that resemble small carrots are produced well into the fall. They are very hot while retaining a slight fruity flavour. Bulgarian Hot Chile peppers are very prolific, born close to the stem, covering most of the small 16 - 18 inch plants. They are a wonderful container pepper or great to plant in tight spaces. We have regularly picked over 30 peppers/plant and have used them in marinades and salsas, as well as in hot sauces. They are also delicious dried and ground. A worthy addition to your hot pepper collection!
