Armenian Snake Melon (Snake Melon or Cucumber) (Cucumis melo) A very ancient heirloom melon introduced from Armenia into Northern Italy sometime in the 1400ās. Although cultivated and harvested as a cucumber, the Armenian Snake Melon is actually botanically classified as a melon (Cucumis melo). Highly fragrant fruits are long and green-ridged, reaching lengths up to 30 inches long but best consumed at the 12 inch stage. After growing past the 12ā stage, the fruits begin to hook forming a coiled appearance similar to a Green Whip Snake!
