Jimmy Nardello Sweet Pepper (Capsicum annuum) A sweet pepper that looks like a hot pepper and that we should have been growing for many years!! It originated in the Basilicata region of southern Italy and was brought to the US in 1887 by the Nardello family. This pepper is an Italian frying pepper known for its long, thin, gnarly shape and sweetness. One of the most prolific producers we have grown, making it challenging to keep up to the harvest of ripened fruit. These peppers are great on pizzas and best fried, roasted, or eaten fresh, since they soften considerably when cooked.Â
