Emil’s Bee Garden Salvia (Salvia forskaohlei) A beautiful large-leaved Salvia with a mix of mauve, purple and white flowers along long spikes. Emil Byrka of Morden, MB passed the seeds along and has grown this for many years, although he is not certain what species of Salvia it is. The Salvia genus is enormous, however, we are quite certain it is a Balkan Sage species called forskaohlei, known for the uniquely long flower spike and multi-coloured blooms. Plants have large rosette based leaves and send a long 2 foot flower spike in mid summer, flowering well into late fall. Flowers are continually loaded with pollinators, especially bumble bees. A wonderful long-flowering perennial that is low maintenance.

40 seeds per packet

Planting Instructions: Sow seeds on the surface of moist soil and lightly press in, do not cover, as they need light to germinate. Keep soil evenly moist and warm (18–24 °C / 65–75 °F). Germination may be slow or uneven. Transplant seedlings to well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade, spacing 6–12" apart. Water until established, then reduce frequency.
