Scaly Bark Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) An heirloom first offered by the Henderson Seed Co. in the late 1800’s. Our seed source comes from Emil Byrka who originally acquired his seeds from our friends at Heritage Harvest Seeds in Manitoba. Large round fruits up to 12” + with rough, blue-green skin resembling that of hardwood tree bark. The red flesh is rather crunchy, and quite sweet. This is a very rare heirloom watermelon with prolonged storing properties.
