Clemson Spineless Okra Abelmoschus esculentus. Clemson Spineless Okra is an heirloom that won the AAS prize in 1939. Okra is relatively easy to grow, it thrives in the heat and likes slightly acidic soils. Plants have showy cream coloured flowers, followed by strongly flavoured grooved pods that add brilliant texture to culinary dishes. Popular in stews, soups, and gumbo.

Planting Instructions: Direct seed after danger of frost has past. Sow 2 inches apart, 1/2 inch deep into warm soil. Thin plants to 16 inches apart once established. Seeds can be started indoors 4-5 weeks before last spring frost. Keep seed trays warm and do not disturb roots when transplanting.
