Homesteader Pea (Pisum sativum) This early 1900’s heirloom, also known as ‘Lincoln’ is the standard by which all the other peas are evaluated. This is a shelling pea, growing up to 30 inches in height. A very sweet and delicious variety that might be the best, fresh eating pea of memory from childhood classic ‘garden raids’. Pods are pointed, dark green and rather slender, containing 7-9 large, mouth-popping, sweet, deep green peas! Homesteader peas have a very unique flavour and are also excellent for freezing. Heat tolerant and good disease resistance.
