Russian Mennonite Sugar Pea (Pisum Sativum) - This is a fabulous old heirloom snap pea with vines reaching over 5 feet tall. Brought to Canada in the early 1900's by Mennnonite settlers who fled the Bolshevik Revolution. Our seed source comes from the Derksen family near Plum Coulee, MB. We first grew this pea in 2010 and lost our limited seed source in 2012. Ten years later we were fortunate enough to locate the same strain from a gardener in Winkler, MB. It might be the earliest sugar pea we know of with the most vigorous plants! Please save your seeds of this rare heirloom!
