Thomas Laxton Pea (Pisum sativum) Named after the English botanist and plant breeder who was regularly consulted by Charles Darwin during the mid 1800's. This is one of the earliest varieties we grow, maturing in less than 60 days. These 'English' shelling peas do best when started in early spring or late summer since the plants will not produce well in the heat of the summer. Plants will produce sweet-tasting peas that can be eaten fresh or used in cooking. We found these peas freeze well if you are interested in preserving them.
