Purple Marconi Sweet Pepper (Capsicum annuum) - Possibly one of the best fresh‑eating peppers we’ve grown, this Italian heirloom produces narrow, tapered 5–6″ fruits with striking dark purple skin that ripens to deep burgundy red. Plants are tall, reaching up to 3 ft, and are very prolific, yielding abundant peppers throughout the season.
Traditionally used as a frying pepper, Purple Marconi is equally delicious fresh, offering sweet flavour despite its resemblance to hot varieties. Fruits are sweetest once fully purple and continue to increase in sweetness as they turn red.
85-90 days to maturity.
25 seeds per packet.
Planting Instructions: Start seeds indoors 8–10 weeks before your last frost date. Sow ¼″ deep in a warm seed-starting mix and keep soil consistently moist and warm for best germination. Transplant seedlings into cell packs or small pots at the 1–2 leaf stage. Harden off plants for 4–5 days once frost risk has passed. Transplant outdoors in full sun when day and night temperatures remain consistently above 10 °C, spacing plants 18–24″ apart in well-drained soil.
