Atlantic Giant Pumpkin 'Howard Dill Strain' (Cucurbita maxima) - It took over 30 years for Nova Scotia farmer and pumpkin breeder Howard Dill (1934-2008) to perfect 'Dill's Atlantic Giant' pumpkin. In 1978, Howard broke a 75-year-old record with his giant 438.5-pound pumpkin. He retained the world record for four years garnering him the champion of giant pumpkins. The resurgence in Giant-pumpkin contests led to 'Dill's Atlantic Giant' being used as a go-to of every world champion grower since that time. We are very pleased with our seed source which comes from the Somerset area of the Annapolis Valley, only 50 minutes from where Howard Dill grew his giants!
