Worcester Pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo) - Also known as the Worcester Indian Pumpkin, in Massachusetts, there are accounts and publications of this variety being sold at Fall fairs and exhibitions of the 1890's. We have enjoyed growing this rare pumpkin now for three years and are pleased with our selection process. Worcester is thought to be the predecessor to the Connecticut Field Pumpkin from over 100 years ago, likely cultivated by the Nipmuc and/or Algonquian tribes of the New England region. This is more of a medium sized, early pumpkin with a blocky shape. Some of this blocky characteristic can certainly be seen in the same specimens of the Connecticut variety. Our seed source comes from a customer residing in The Pas, Manitoba, who insisted we grow this pumpkin as it does well in northern latitudes. We have consistently produced finished Worcester pumpkins in under 90 days from direct seed. LIMITED QUANTITIES for 2024!
