Pembina Pink Lavatera (Lavatera trimestris) Another selection from Elsie Byrka's gardens in the Pembina Valley of southern Manitoba. The seed source actually comes from Black Lake, MB where Elsie discovered a beautiful stand of unmistakeable hot pink blooms off the shoreline in the fall of 1991. These are sturdy plants with vibrant dark pink blooms beginning in the heat of summer and continuing well into very late fall. Pink colour darkens in late season as cooler nights arrive. Another survivor of Hurricane Fiona, remaining upright with only a slight list to the southeast! Lavatera has good pest and disease resistance and is highly attractive to hummingbirds, butterflies, and an wide array of beneficial insects. We are excited to offer this exclusive variety for the first time. Enjoy the blooms!
