Guryn Sweet William (Dianthus barbatus) My father took a visit to one of the old family homesteads near Glencairn, MB in 2017. His sister Julia gave him specific instructions on where to look for the old flower gardens, now covered by years of perennial grasses. It was that flower garden where he would find a few hidden treasures still persevering quite vigorously through neglect. One of those finds was a mound of Sweet William flowers, exactly where my great aunt Mary Guryn planted them in the early 1950’s. The old Guryn homestead would provide more heirloom herbs and flowers in the coming season. The Sweet William seed has undergone three years of trialling and we are pleased to offer this family heirloom for the first time.
