Azoychka Yellow Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) Another rare prairie heirloom from the Saskatchewan prairies. Seeds gifted from Alan of Cricket Corner (Kennedy Saskatchewan) initially saved by Valentina Kruglova of Russia and collected by Seed Savers Exchange in the early 1990's. This is a really nice heirloom beefsteak with prolific yields of disc-shaped, oblate yellow fruits ranging from 3 - 4" in diameter that ripen on the vine quite quickly so they will keep you busy at picking stage. Fruits are fairly thin skinned and very juicy much like Golden Queen but not as sweet and are different in shape, colour (faint pleated striping before fully ripe) and growth habit. Vines are indeterminate and show good disease resistance. A nice low acid slicer that makes excellent sauce or simply a great sandwich or burger tomato. Can be picked a bit premature as they do ripen quickly.
