Indigo Rose Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) A stunning dark purple (nearing black) coloured variety developed by Jim Myers of OSU after years of natural cross breeding selection. These medium size fruits have a sweet plum like flavour, which is best when the colour changes from shiny purple to a dull purple-brown, completing the conversion of sugars and acids. The underside of the fruit will also turn a gorgeous rose-orange colour as it ripens. Indigo Rose produces high levels of anthocyanin, which are rich in anti-oxidants. A heavy yielder from our trials in both 2021 and 2022 this is a unique, open-pollinated variety with intermediate growth habit. Our seed source comes from a long seasoned market grower near Kingston, ON.
