Golden Wax Bush Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) (Scottish Barter strain) – These have been saved every year by my father; the original seed likely from the Guryn homestead. We are told that my grandmother often bartered with the Scottish farmers in the area. These beans were referred to as the ‘Scottish Goldies’ forever after! A family selection thought to have been purchased from the Burpee Seed Co. in the 1940’s. This variety has been carefully preserved for over 70 years by 5 generations.
