Wick's Lima Bean (Phaseolus lunatus) This is our new favourite lima bean to grow here on the North Mountain of the Annapolis Valley. Seed origin comes to us from Barb Nichols of London, Ontario who acquired the seeds via SSE in 2017. She reports 'Jack in the Beanstalk' like pole bean habit in her SW Ontario garden. We agree with the prolific growth and pod production of this heirloom which was initially grown by Wick Smith of Sandyville, West Virginia in the 1930's. Beautiful seeds are either white with dark purple mottling or solid purple. The fresh shelling limas are incredibly sweet tasting, dry beans have a nutty flavour. A must grow if you can squeeze 90 growing days out of your hardiness zone.
