Borrie's Yellow Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) Seed source donated to SSE in the 1970’s by the Borries family of Teutopolis, Illinois. This is super sweet semi-oblong fruit with creamy flesh. Rind ripens to green with beautiful dark-green stripes. We have had very consistent success with this variety, noting very good resistance to wilt, drought and sunburn. This may be the highest sugar content of all the watermelons we grow!

Planting instructions: Seed indoors 1/2 inch deep. Line out transplants after risk of frost has passed, spacing 5-6 seed apart. Direct seed in raised hills sowing 5-6 seeds 1/2 inch deep. Soil temperature should be at least 21 degrees Celsius. Space mounds 5-6 feet apart, thinning to 3 plants per mound.
