Meadow Arnica (Arnica chamissonis) A native perennial herb found in meadows of North America from the Pacific Northwest and across the Canadian prairies to the Western and coastal areas of the USA. Also known as Mountain Daisy, this herb is traditionally grown as a herb to relieve symptoms of tendonitis, arthritis, and general body pain. Dermal creams can be produced from the flowers and applied topically. Allopathic pharmaceuticals recommended external use only since Arnica contains helenalin, which is toxic if large amounts of the plant are taken internally. Perhaps this is why deer avoid the plant when browsing! Hardy to zone 2, Arnica pants will reach up to 20 inches tall in height with bright rays of cheery golden yellow flowers appearing from early-June to late September. Grows best in full sun on a wide range of soil types. Arnica is very attractive to pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Considered a suitable replacement for other invasive daisy species and drought tolerant.

Can be slow and tricky to germinate. Requires light to germinate.
