Amish Paste Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) Amish Paste Roma tomato seeds date back to the 1870's via Lancaster, PA (Amish roots). These are a prolific and long-lasting producer of large, heavy fruit that are perfect for sauces and pastes making this heirloom a culinary favourite. The fruits are firm with deep red flesh and not too juicy containing few seeds. Shape of the fruit ranges from ox heart to rounded bases. A sweet and rich, flavourful paste tomato with very good resistance to defoliation diseases. Vines do require staking for support.

Planting Instructions: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Sow 1/4 inch deep and keep soil warm. Transplant into 1 inch cells or 2 inch pots at 1-2 leaf stage. Staking tomatoes (indeterminate) should be transplanted into 3-4 inch pots. Harden off plants for 4-5 days after risk of frost has passed, then transport outdoors.
