Blue Flax Flower (Linum perenne) Also referred to as Prairie flax, this herbaceous perennial is a semi evergreen species of Linum which produces beautiful pale, sky-blue flowers throughout summer. It is one of the early June bloomers on our farm. Petals fall off in the evening but grace your presence each morning. Tender evergreen like foliage that is persistent in the very early days of spring. Plants are slightly bushy, spreading 18-30“ and typically reach heights of 24-45”. Native to western Europe, this flax species is drought tolerant, preferring well-drained soils and full sun.
