Peach-Leaved Bellflower (Campanula persicifolia) - A clump forming, stiff stemmed perennial species, native to southern regions of Europe where it is considered a native plant. A widely cultivated flowering species in Great Britain since the late 1500s. Plants produce white to violet bell shaped flowers in mid - late June lasting through the summer months. Flower production is increased in cooler summer climates such as the Canadian Maritimes and mid-northern latitudes. Full sun and well-drained sandy-loam soils will also ensure multiple blooms. In hotter climates, 4-6 hours of full sun is sufficient as partial shade will benefit blooming. Plants reach heights of 18 - 24” with multiple flowers along entire stems making it an excellent cut flower. Three weeks of cold stratification will increase germination rates.

Growing Information: Sow indoors 6-8 weeks before planting out and keep in full light. Lightly cover with vermiculite or soil medium. Keep soil misted or bottom water to avoid washing out seeds and soil. Plants can be started in the early fall and successfully overwintered in zone 4 and up using mulches or grow tunnels. Early winter starts indoors are also effective in producing same year blooms.
