Dwarf Candytuft (Iberis umbellata) Candytuft is a flower that is native to the Mediterranean region of Europe, where it can often be seen as a volunteer growing wild in farm fields. Candytuft prefers well-drained, higher pH soils that need not be rich in nutrients. Candytuft makes a great border or container plant growing 12-18” in height. It is also frequently utilized as a cut flower. Most often grown as an annual (Zone 3- 6) in most regions of North America, although it can be considered a perennial when grown in a climate similar to its native region (zone 7-9) The flower heads, made up of many tiny flowers of white, mauve and pink, begin blooming within a few weeks of germination.

Growing Instructions: Outdoors: Prepare your seedbed in the spring and scatter the seeds onto the worked soil. Lightly rake or water in place. 'Candytuft' prefers dry conditions so plant in a location such as a raised bed with well-drained soil that receives full sun throughout the growing season. Seeds should be kept moist until germination occurs. Can be started indoors, but must be planted in the ground before blooming starts in order to yield the best results.
