Dwarf Candytuft (Iberis umbellata) Candytuft is a flower that is native to the Mediterranean region of Europe, where it can often be seen as a volunteer growing wild in farm fields. Candytuft prefers well-drained, higher pH soils that need not be rich in nutrients. Candytuft makes a great border or container plant growing 12-18” in height. It is also frequently utilized as a cut flower. Most often grown as an annual (Zone 3- 6) in most regions of North America, although it can be considered a perennial when grown in a climate similar to its native region (zone 7-9) The flower heads, made up of many tiny flowers of white, mauve and pink, begin blooming within a few weeks of germination.
