Climbing French Pole Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) PLEASE save these seeds and share! An excellent fresh eating bean that dates back to the early 1800's. Extremely delicious when picked young and tender. Plants are vine-like, resembling small lilac shoots with accompanying flowers. Sweet and flavourful off the vine, our Grandpa's favourite here at the farm. Snappy-green pods have gorgeous sleek, dark-purple seeds when mature. According to The Beans of New York (1931) it was the most widely cultivated French pole bean in England and for many years thereafter. Making a slow comeback, but still quite rare.

70-75 days to maturity

40 seeds per packet

Planting Instructions: Direct sow after the danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed to 15C. Plant seeds 1" deep and space 2–3" apart in rows 18–36" apart. Keep soil evenly moist during germination. Bush beans prefer full sun and well-drained soil. Plants require sturdy support such as trellises or poles.
