Atomic Grape 'Golden Boy' Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum- Another unique tomato heirloom from our St Norbert friends in Winnipeg, Manitoba who have grown this one for many years on their Red River acreage. Thank you William, it is a remarkable tomato! This is likely an open pollinated version of the original Atomic variety, introduced by Brad Gates of Wild Boar Farms in the 1990’s. It has since been widely cultivated around the world for its outstanding flavour and purple grape-like colour. We have trialled this and two other variations of the lineage for three years and have selected exclusively from the open-pollinated Winnipeg seed source. These plants tend to produce fruits that ripen to a very golden-violet purple colour and are extremely persistent on the vine. We also found the flavour of this particular seed source to be superior to other versions but only in the purple-green stage of development. This was also the best source with respect to disease resistance and plant vigour. Fruit ripens 75-85 days depending on the growing environment. Persistence allows fruit to be harvested early or later depending on usage and preference. LIMITED QUANTITIES!
