Whittemore Heirloom Tomato – (Solanum lycopersicum) One of the more flavourful beefsteak varieties we have ever grown. Edley Bellamy of Virginia state donated this seed to Seed Savers Exchange; Bellamy received the variety from Oscar Gibson in 1993. Origins are believed to be Italian but not confirmed. Indeterminate vines produce large pink beefsteak tomatoes with large lobes and prominent heirloom ribbing. One of the few beefsteak tomatoes that hung around after Hurricane Fiona 's visit in September of 2022.

Planting Instructions: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Sow 1/4 inch deep and keep soil warm. Transplant into 1 inch cells or 2 inch pots at 1-2 leaf stage. Staking tomatoes (indeterminate) should be transplanted into 3-4 inch pots. Harden off plants for 4-5 days after risk of frost has passed, then transport outdoors.
