Purple Celosia

Purple Celosia (Celosia argentea var. plumosa) - Gifted to Revival Seeds by Elsie & Emil Byrka in 2019. Brightly coloured purple summer blooms resembling a flame. These blooms appear earlier than other celosia varieties. Branching is quite uniform making an ideal border plant, cut flower, or container species. Plants reach heights of 10-14”. Expect blooms from early summer to late fall.

Growing Information: Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last spring frost. Lightly cover and keep soil moist until emergence with light spray bottle or under watering the tray. Soil temperatures should be at least 20 degrees for improved germination in 7-10 days. Reduce temperature to 12-15 degrees once seedling emerge. Space plants 20-24” apart in full sun. Celosia can be direct-sown, and once it has germinated, it should not be moved. Sow the seeds after all danger of frost has passed. Sow ⅛-inch deep and cover lightly. Thin plants to about 10 inches apart if leaf-to-leaf coverage is desired.
