Crimson Red Nicotiana (Nicotiana alata) - Our friends at Cochran Family Farm set us up with this unique seed source in 2023. We planted two different beds with 35-40 plants in each. For several days in August there were dozens of Ruby-throated Hummingbirds dancing around these vibrant cherry-coloured blooms. A really pretty and diverse bloom colour ranging from dark red to burgundy. This is a long standing flowering species, producing blooms well into mid October here in Nova Scotia (Zone 5b) . Plants typically reach 24-30 inches and 12-16 inches across. Makes an excellent choice for beds, borders, container growing, and should be a part of any pollinator garden.
