Drama Queen Poppy or Cressy Red Breadseed Poppy (Papaver somniferum) - As the name suggests, this variety of P. somniferum is sure to make quite a scene in your flower beds with its dramatic purple and violet-red blooms. Flowers are born around 48-50 days on 36-40” stems. Produces a ‘mother load’ of nectar readily available for bees in late spring to early summer! Growing Information: A week or two before, or after last frost, broadcast seed on top of soil and lightly cover. Thin plants to 6 inches after true leaves appear. Seeds can be sown outdoors in the late fall to enhance spring germination.
