Flanders Poppy (Papaver rhoeas) Striking red blooms that are visible from great distances, Flanders poppies or Corn poppies, will grow in a wide variety of soil types and perform well in xeriscape landscapes. They self sow quite readily without ever becoming weedy. This symbolic Remembrance Day poppy is a good choice if you have frequent deer visitations due to the species being mildly toxic and unpleasantly bitter to grazing animals. Sow in spring or fall.
