Golden Bantam 12 Row Corn (Zia mays) This original heirloom was introduced by W. Atlee Burpee in 1902 after he obtained a selection from a Massachusetts farmer, at a time when most people thought yellow corn was only suitable for animal feed. This improved 12 row selection was later introduced in1922 by the Clark Seed Company of Milford, Connecticut. This 12 row bantam is a high yielding improvement but equally suitable for freezing and fresh eating the day it is picked. We were also impressed by this sturdy plant stock after so many rows remained standing after hurricane Dorion in 2019.
