Golden Bantam 12 Row Corn (Zea mays) - This original heirloom was introduced by W. Atlee Burpee in 1902 after he obtained a selection from a Massachusetts farmer, at a time when yellow corn was primarily thought to be suitable only for animal feed. The improved 12-row selection was later released in 1922 by the Clark Seed Company of Milford, Connecticut. This high-yielding variety is ideal for fresh eating, freezing, or preserving, with tender, sweet kernels. It is also known for its sturdy plant stock; many rows remained standing even after hurricane Dorian in 2019.
