Golden Beet (Beta vulgaris) A Burpee catalogue introduction dating back to the 1940’s. This was a colour breakthrough in beet root development; a golden root and a sweet, but milder flavour that holds its colour when cooked. Prized by many gourmet chefs who are looking for a non-bleeding beet that can be used with other ingredients. Many growers note that the leaves of the Golden Beet are superior in flavour to many spinach varieties. Globes typically reach 2-3" across, however, we have often grown 4” plus here on the North Mountain Revival Seed farm.
